I am incredibly hyped up for YTTD's final installment. Despite being 2/3rds of the way through the game, we still barely know anything about ASU-NARO's true motive, how the cast's backstories fit into it, and why Sara + Spoiler Sou seem to be at its center. With that in mind, I'd like to hear everyone's wild (or not so wild!) guesses as to what will happen!
Here are my bets so far:
We're going to find out about some kind of schism/divide between members of the organization and possibly use it to our advantage. We already know that Miley and Gashu (2 senior(?) officials) majorly disagree over something pertaining to how the Game is run, so this might carry over to everyone working "behind the scenes" (so to speak).
ASU-NARO's goal will be transhumanist in nature. For those who aren't familiar with the term, transhumanism is a school of thought that pushes technological augmentation (bodily or otherwise) as a primary means toward human progress and evolution. Through everything we've seen, ASU-NARO seems to value a certain set of skills: wit, physical stamina, leadership, and analytical thinking. The candidates may have been a test group groomed from birth to inherit/develop these traits, which is why most of them can't recall having/don't have biological parents. The Death Game may be ASU-NARO's way of culling those who cannot serve as "models" for their final goal - a perfect AI. (I say a "perfect" AI because that's what's most likely - Gashu and Safalin are both AI researchers, but they seem to disagree over what makes a consciousness "ideal.") Their name supports this, as "asu wa hinoki ni narou" figuratively means something like "tomorrow it will become something greater."
Spoiler Sou and Sara have one key thing in common - they're both meant to be replicas of someone who died long ago. Sara is a human replica (going back to the point about everyone being groomed to have a role), while Spoiler Sou is a doll replica. This is so ASU-NARO can figure out...something. (Maybe the efficacy of allowing a consciousness to grow naturally in the same circumstances as the original vs. replicating it from scratch?) At any rate, I'm 99.99% sure that none of our candidates are dolls as everyone bleeds when dying in minigames. It was emphasized that Doll Reko produced no blood when she died, so that's probably something to remember.
Excited to hear what you guys think!
