Lab 1

Unused dolls.

A doll (人形, Ningyō?) is an android-like robot, though in Kimi ga Shine they may not necessarily be humanoid. ASU-NARO utilizes them in various ways verging on absurd. Moving or "living" dolls utilize artificial intelligence, the degree of complication and depth seems to vary.

Humanoid dolls[]

All candidates participating in the Death Game (plus Joe) have had a humanoid doll of them made. These dolls are uncannily similar to their human counterparts. Down to the latest detail, clothes and weight, these dolls can easily pass for human. The one major tell seems to be a lack of blood. The non-active dolls are kept in storage in Tia Safalin's lab on the third floor, while Reko’s is activated after the Room of Lies and allowed to roam around masquerading as the real Reko and Q-taro's is activated during the Murderer Game as part of a plan to deceive Midori.

The Floor Masters are supposedly all dolls, although only Rio Ranger and Midori are confirmed to be non-human. Ranger was created by Gashu and Safalin with an AI with limited emotional intelligence. Additionally, while Midori contains some human parts, most of his body is that of a doll leading to him being classified as a doll in the banquet. There is also a full doll version of his body. Maple, Memory Dance girl, and the Bunny boy are other examples of humanoid dolls that are seemingly not based on real people. Miley has a doll version of herself as well as her human self, however it is unclear if her doll has ever been active.

The AIs are inserted into the dolls using a machine in Safalin's lab called the AI-Ciever.

Dummies[]

Main article: Dummies

Most of the Dummies are all candidates who died during the First Trial whose AI were uploaded into doll replicas of themselves (with one exception being replaced by a human impostor). They cannot be people who have known the currently living candidates.

Upgrade Parts[]

Ranmarunote

A doll of Ranmaru removing his hand.

Dolls are also able to attach a variety of "Upgrade Parts" to themselves which have many different effects. A list of known Upgrade Parts include:

  • The Steam Spray Hand; which can be used to spray steam so long as the user has moisture available. Attached to the Ranmaru Doll. obtained when looking up in the fifth floor classroom while alone.
  • A Stun Gun Finger; which can be used to expel shocks powerful enough to knock someone out. Attached to the Ranmaru Doll. Obtained by pressing "Finger" on the Shinobu Gokujo wanted poster in the 5th floor police station.
  • A Rocket Punch; which can be shot out to punch someone from a distance. Attached to the Floormaster Midori.
  • The Mai Tsurugi Doll was also unknowingly fitted with Midori's human hands which could be used to unlock Level 1 for the gimmick security in the monitor room on the 5th floor.

Monstrous looking dolls[]

ASU-NARO appears to have no trouble creating dolls that are non-humanoid in nature and come in various shapes and sizes. While they don't speak much, they have some kind of rudimentary AI. They've been mostly used for Attraction challenges and Obstructors in Midori's Murderer Game.
